On June 2nd in 1968 (AS 3), the East coast chapter of the SCA held their first event at the Cloisters in New York City. The planned tournament got rained out and rescheduled. On July 21st the first Crown Tourney took place in Cloves Lake Park, Staten Island, NY. Maragon the Artificer and Adrienne of Toldedo were appointed to sit as King and Queen and preside over the first tourney.

I'll need to check some notes and quiz [livejournal.com profile] msmemory for what happened next (History of the West says Bruce was knighted and crowned King that day, while the OP shows Maragon as King until October). No matter, the point is that next summer the East Kingdom will turn 40 years old.

I am contemplating an ambitious project. This project will take a lot of work over a period of almost two years. The details still need to be worked out. I'd really like to do it, but I'm worried that I won't be able to keep up with it. I think the idea is a good one and worth doing. I just hope enough other people will think it is a good idea as well. It's not even really a new idea, just one I'm looking at focusing on with some specific goals in mind. I feel like I'm speaking in bullet points.

In a little over two years the East Kingdom will be 40 years old. Beginning with 12th Night in 2008, I'd like to have an EK History display at as many kingdom events as possible. I need to brain storm what sort of things would be good to display. Then I need to figure out which items need to be collected and which need to be created. I would like to finish the Book of Lists. I would like to do an update on the Geographical History. I want to have more then just stacks of old newsletters. It would be great to get a photo display like what they had at the 40th Year Celebration in Bridge - unfortunately the EK collection doesn't include photos.

Any of you SCA people out there have suggestions or idea? Things to do or not to do?

So, when last we spoke I had a few things to work on and a few things planned.  Let's see how it worked out...

Well, I had hoped to do this last night, but that didn't happen, so here it is now :)  All the links below go to photos.

Well it's noon, and I'm still the only one in the office...  Admittedly, it doesn't take much for this office to be empty - there are only four of us here most days, and one of them is never in this early.

So, let's see what's new...  )

You can tell it's going to be a Monday when you've not finished your morning email before lunch time.

Monday's seem like a good time to revisit the week before and think about the week ahead.

Hmm, last one of these was over a week ago - let's see how well I can recall two weekends worth of stuff.

What's been happening )

In the coming week I've got more EK History stuff, Period Gaming and running a games table at an event in Buckland Cross.

I need to get one of these for my car.  Although I'm more likely to make my own, since I don't like the font or the apple they use.
