Monday's seem like a good time to revisit the week before and think about the week ahead.

Wow, still having trouble remembering Tuesdays.  I suspect we watched TV or I read some, but otherwise it was a quiet evening.  I've been spending a little bit of time weeding each night.  Hopefully I'll get finished by the end of the month.

Ah, I remember now - Tuesday we had a surprise visit from a SCAdian from NJ.  They had misread the date for the Brewers Guild meeting and came down a day early.  We invited her in and talked about brewing and old SCA stuff (she's just becoming active again after a 10+ year absence).  We didn't expect her to make the long trip twice in one week, but she surprised us and showed up the next day for the meeting.

The Brewers Guild meeting was well attended, with a good mix of new and old folks.  I wish we did more brewing at these meetings and less guild business planning.  I understand the need for the business stuff, but I feel like we're going over the same stuff each month.

Thursday was EK History work night.  I was the only one there, and I can't say I got a lot done.  I did manage to inventory enough to break the 5000 mark in the database.  Getting pretty close to the end of the newsletters - I'll be glad when they're done so that I can move on to more interesting stuff.

I had my annual physical on Friday.  Apart from elevated cholesterol levels, I seem to be in good heath (she gave me an A-  I knew I should have studied more...)

Friday was also Gamesters (period games); [livejournal.com profile] kathy_the_geek and Bryan joined us.  Bryan and I played a few games of Fanorona and then retreated to the family room to watch some of Penn & Teller's Bullshit.  From time to time I consider dropping the Gamesters meetings - we never gotten great attendance, but I figure if I keep running them, at least I'm giving folks the chance to come out and play.  Whether they do or not is up to them.

Saturday was Demeter's Return II, an SCA event/demo.  I ran games from about 5 hours.  Had a good time teaching and hanging out, but I need to get a banner for demos like this so it will be easier for people to find me.  I've also decided I need a partner.  People are more likely to come over to see what you are doing when there is more then one person sitting there.  Plus when no-one is there, I'd have someone to play games with :)

Saturday, I also got me some crossbows!  A friend of mine was selling his crossbows because he and his son don't use them any more.  They were in great shape and very nicely constructed, so I bought them.  I'd been looking at crossbows for a few years now, and was hoping to get one at Pennsic this year, but this is even better.  The one is a period reproduction in walnut with a 90 lb draw and perfect for my persona, while the other is a modified western bow with a shorter stock and only a 25 lb draw.  I can't wait for archery practice!
Saturday evening Amy and I went out to dinner and then over to hang out with our friends Neale and Becki.  They are expecting their first child any minute now (she was due over a week ago) so our activities were chatting and watching the Invader Zim DVD.

Sunday, Amy and I went to fencing practice.  I still haven't adjusted to the heat, so I was getting tired pretty quickly and not doing very well (that's my story and I'm sticking with it!).  Unfortunately, because of the marshal's schedule, it looks like this will be the last practice we get for about two months.  Hopefully the canton next door will start up practicing again soon.  After fencing we stopped at Neale and Becki's to drop off comics, and got their just in time to join them for dinner at Red Lobster with Finn, Margarete and AJ.  I tried to avoid fried food, but that seems to be very tricky at Red Lobster - especially if you don't eat fish.

I've got an eye doctor appointment to pick up a new contact in about an hour.  After that, I really really really need to bottle the Gewurztraminer that is on the kitchen counter.  Beyond that, I've got nothing on the schedule until Thursday - EK History again.  Friday we go down to Baltimore for Balticon.  Should be a great time.  I know [livejournal.com profile] kathy_the_geek and Bryan will be there - anyone else?
