What if they misremembered what he said?  What if, all this time they've been telling us to remember the wrong thing?  How well do we trust them to have gotten it right?  I mean, considering the source there were probably drugs involved.  Once you add that to the mix you've got to take everything with a grain of salt, and some munchies.  So it's not only possible that they misheard or misremembered what was said, it's also possible that they hallucinated the whole conversation!

`But what did the Dormouse say?' one of the jury asked.
    `That I can't remember,' said the Hatter.

I do almost all of my banking electronically and I never visit a bank teller.  So when I want to get cash I hit an ATM, usual one which does not charge a fee (most do but a few don't).  When I need to deposit a check, I go wherever is convenient and deposit through the ATM.

The other day I was had a check to deposit so I visited one of the banks I use, but their ATM was being serviced.  So I drove to the next bank I could think of, which turned out to be a Commerce Bank not too far away.  I was very surprised to discover that they charged the same fee for deposits that they do for withdraws ($1.50).  Since I was in a hurry I said ok to the fee and went on my way.  Much to my surprise, when I checked my account Commerce Bank had not taken a $1.50 out of my deposit, and had in fact added an extra $1.50 to my total.  So instead of getting $119.24 (my actual deposit) or $117.74 (deposit minus $1.50) I got $120.74.

I'm thinking of trying an experiment and depositing $5 cash to see if I get the extra $1.50 or not.  If I do, then I've got this big stack of $2 bills which I could deposit one at a time - hell of a return at that rate :)

So, I'm driving through a tiny village in upstate New York, late on Friday night.  We're running about two hours behind schedule and have been driving for most of the evening.  Suddenly there is a cop behind me with his lights on - damn.  I pull over, turn off the engine and roll down the window.  The cop comes over and briefly explains that he was going to give me a ticket, but after getting a closer look at my license plate, realized that he couldn't, and that we were free to go.

I'm sure I spent the week doing something, but I'm having a hard time recalling exactly what...  Time to check my notes.

Notes )

Today I made two new user icons from my license plate(s).  The other is even more obnoxious then this one (think <blink>), so I don't know if I'll ever get use it (but I uploaded it anyway).  I've had this plate for years and only occasionally have I gotten a reaction from somebody - but I've never gotten a parking or speeding ticket :)

Tonight  I need to rack the wine cooler as soon as I get home and then we may or may not try and go see Van Helsing.
