Well, the back roads were still snow covered when I left for work, and the main road only a little better. Still, I made it here with no problems, just a little later then usual.

This evening the plan is to drive up to Bardic. I'm hopeful that the roads will just be wet at that point, but since we'll be on major highways the entire way up, I expect they will be in decent shape.

Not sure it's worth trying.  I think I need to figure out what posting "style" works best for me.

Ooh, just got today's menu for the Mt. Pleasant Cafe...now I'm hungry.  You must all suffer with me... )

The good news: My sister's school did not go on strike.  They just signed a five year contract.

The bad news: My friend Mike's father passed away and we're going to attend the service next Saturday, so no game tournament this year.  Until recently we've not gotten to see Mike and his family very often, but they been joining us for brunch recently when they can.  His father has been sick for a while now, so it wasn't a surprise, but that doesn't lessen the loss.

The mixed news: Half my job is finally picking up again - I've got billable hours!  The other half is slowing down - to the point where they will probably be letting go the new software guy (who they just hired a few months ago).

Road trip?

So, would it be worth it to drive five and a half hours to attend an SCA event that is having a games tourney?  I've been tempted to attend each year since I've heard about it, but the plans just never come together.  On the plus side, it's a game tourney I don't have to run at a small event that sounds like a lot of fun.  On the down side, it's five and half hours each way.  That would mean driving down Friday night, finding a place to stay, attending the event on Saturday, and driving home on Sunday.  So a whole weekend gone, just so I can play Fox and Geese against unsuspecting strangers (ok, other games as well).

Amy and I are looking to go to New York City for an extended weekend some time this summer (or fall).  We're going to visit the Met (since neither of us have been), and probably the American Museum of Natural History (for the minerals and gems).  We plan to see a show or two (Avenue Q, Wicked, Jumpers, who knows!)  I'm pissed that the Morgan Library is closed until 2006, but some of their stuff is at the Met.

We're also looking for ideas for interesting/off-beat/unique/lesser known stuff to do or places to visit.  Any ideas?
