The calendar fills
up faster then I would wish.
Both too much and too
little makes me unhappy.
Must strike a balance some where.

So we've got my "holiday" schedule:

10th - Valley Forge Beer Fest, Philly Fit Party
11th - Cabaret Red Light's Nutcracker
12th - Science on Tap (maybe)
15th - Philly Area Gamers
17th - Seize Your Turn, Peek-a-Boo Revue
18th - Dinner with Dad
24th - Christmas eve
25th - Christmas
26th - Day off from work
31st - Clutch concert

And then next year things get really busy...

EK 12th Night
Iron Bog Investiture
Birka
K&Q Rapier (maybe)
Noisemakers
Cooking Thynge (maybe)
Mudthaw (maybe)
Raze a Village
Spring Thynge
Dining with Lorenzo

...

A week or so ago I finally got all the information I needed to turn in the Kingdom 2010 EOY report. Yeah, 2010. In four months I get to start the 2011 one. Needless to say, I'm not getting to all the exchequer stuff that I want to work on and instead seem to be dealing with one problem after another.

At some point early in the year, my beard was getting a bit long and I joked that I would trim it when I got the EOY report done. I actually let it go this whole time, and now I need to decide what to do with it.

A few pics )

Anyone got suggestions? :)

The other day I mentioned that I might be trying something new this past weekend. During our Saturday run two weekends ago, one of the coaches said that she was unable to participate in the Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon because she was having knee surgery. She offered up her registration if anyone wanted to give it a try. I thought about it and asked a few people about it - last thing I wanted was to wind up injuring myself again. Eventually I decided to go for it and gave her a call. I finally heard back late Thursday evening and we arranged to meet on Sunday morning at the race. (So I only had two days to get used to the idea that I was going to do this.)

It took me longer to get out of the house then I planned, and then longer to find parking once I got into Philly. Then I had the mile walk to our meeting place at the Rocky statue. I got there too late to get into our group picture, but I got there. There was about another hour of waiting before I had actually started the run (and to be clear, I still mostly walk, running only about a third of the race). Every so often along the course there would be a band or a group of cheerleaders, as well as water stations.

I'm pleased to report that I survived and completed the 13.1 mile course, and at a pace that I don't think I've ever done during my other "runs".

Is anyone interested in getting together to watch a bunch of Game of Throne episodes? I've been recording them from the beginning, but haven't started watching them yet. I'm looking at either June 5th or 12th (both Sundays). Naomi has offered to cook some food from the books (via the Inn at the Crossroads blog)

I'm definitely getting tickets to the last two, already have tickets for the Decemberists and seriously considering the other two. Would you like to join me?

Does anyone out there have an interest in visiting the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore and seeing the reliquary exhibit (Treasures of Heaven)? I'm looking at Sunday May 15th, last day of the exhibit and my only free day for it.

(I need ideas so I can make a reliquary for some EK artifacts).

I'm trying to decide if this is the year to hit one of the big US gaming conventions.

Origins, June 22-26
Gen Con Indy, August 4-7

I know Gen Con is larger, and has some vendors that don't go to Origins. What I don't know is which would be better for someone interesting primarily in board games. Anyone who's been to either care to comment?

---

Other stuff on the schedule (? = considering):

2/26 Chamberlain inventory day
3/6 Philly Craft Beer fest
3/26 Mudthaw
4/2 Coronation (?)
4/16 Spring Thynge
7/6-10 Dexccon (?)
8/1-7 World Boardgaming Championships (?)
11/4-6 Ubercon (?)

Jonathan Coulton with Paul and Storm will be back at World Cafe Live on Monday January 31st, 2011. Tickets go on sale this Friday.
A few of us are going to get tickets early and hope for a table up front. If you want in, let me know quickly - otherwise, well, go get your own tickets :)

We used to do brunch and a movie (mmm...Strongbow on tap apple juice for breakfast), but Kildare's is closed and I need more exercise... so a walk and a movie is planned for this Sunday. Leave my house some time after 10 am, walk over to Regal Oaks for the 12:05 showing of Red, then after the movie, grab some food and walk back home. The walk is about 3.7 miles on the Schuylkill River Trail each way.

Anyone is welcome to join me for both or just meet me at the movie. Just let me know.

I'd love to put together a post about the wedding and Disney trip, but I haven't found enough time to pull it together.

Still getting some consulting hours in, but not many (less then 8 in October)

Halloween was fun - went to a party, played some games and even had a costume (but not many photos of it).

Hurt my back some last month (muscle pull) and while it settled down enough that it didn't effect the Disney trip, since then it has shifted lower and is making some activities difficult.

Started reviewing Q3 exchequer reports - pretty easy since most groups didn't turn one in...

Not much scheduled for the rest of the year - which I'm going to consider a good thing at this point.

Schedule
11/5 Philly Gamers @ TJs in Paoli
11/15 Jim Henson's Fantastic World exhibit
11/19 Philly Gamers @ Rock Bottom in KoP
11/20 - 11/22 Philcon
11/26 Thanksgiving
12/3 Jonathan Coulton show
12/5 Bhakail Yule
12/17 Philly Gamers @ Rock Bottom in KoP
12/25 Christmas

Passing this on from [livejournal.com profile] greene_man & [livejournal.com profile] draculachanter

The Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, Pennslyvania is having an exhibit of the works of Edward Gorey starting tomorrow March 21 through May 17.

http://www.brandywinemuseum.org/calendar.html

I need to find some time to get down there and check it out.

And speaking of Edward Gorey, did you all see the scans of this old book by Gorey?

I put up some photos of the regalia I got at 12th Night.

Elizabet and John also have some photos up now.

I've added the Grand Tournament of the Unicorn on April 4th in the Midrealm to my SCA calendar. Three events a month is a bit much, but we'll see how it goes.
