Erin McKeown with special guest Jill Sobule

I love Erin's music. I know [livejournal.com profile] notshakespeare is a fan of Jill Sobule, but I've not had a chance to hear her work. It's the same day as Philly Gamers, but late enough that I could hit both. Hmm....

Just checked back in on this show and I see tickets are now on sale.
Jonathan Coulton w/ Paul and Storm - World Cafe Live - Thursday Dec 3, 2009 (Yeah, shire meeting night...)

$30 for Floor seats (where we were last time) + $10 minimum food and drink.
$30 for standing at the bar (no food minimum, no seating)

There are still some decent seats left for groups of up to 4 or 6 people. Who would like to go in on some tickets with me?

Rasputina will be playing in West Chester on Sunday November 23rd at The Note.

Unfortunately that is the last day of Philcon so I don't think I'll be able to attend.

Nothing much has happened in the last week. Most of my evenings were spent doing some consulting work - which will be continuing this week as well. I've been fighting with one of the hardware bits, and so far it is winning.

Made it to Philly Gamers and got to play Trans Europa and Metro.

Got to play Unspeakable Words with [livejournal.com profile] complexated and gang on Friday. It's a Cthulhu themed word game and was lots of fun :) I'd like to try it again without the optional rules (I think we used all of them at once) and see how the basic game plays.

Saw the Barn's production of Chess which was very good. The people playing Florence and Anatoly were both excellent, but the guy playing Freddie bugged me.

Got my EK History letters out more or less on time, so that project has now officially started.

[livejournal.com profile] arieya was over on Sunday, going through my game collection. She is working on a service to provide replacement parts for games, and was taking measurements from a bunch of games I had. When she was done, the games in the dinning room were all neatly stacked on one side:
Game Pile (125K) )

Speaking of games, just the other day I was wondering if a new reprint of Cosmic Encounter could coming. Well, I just read this announcement from GenCon:
Fantasy Flight Games has acquired the rights to the classic Future Pastimes/Eon games Cosmic Encounter and Borderlands, as well as the "Wheels Within Wheels" game system formerly published as Frank Herbert's Dune. Cosmic Encounter will be published in the summer of 2008. Borderlandswill be published in the summer of 2009. The "Wheels Within Wheels"system will be featured in a new original board game set in FFG's Twilight Imperium universe in late 2008.

Sweet! The return of Borderlands is great news as is a new "gamer" version of CE.

This just in from [livejournal.com profile] colmunson: Rasputina will be playing at the Sellersville Theater on Thursday July 13th.

I plan to go - does anyone else want to join me?

not a whole heck of a lot.

We spent the weekend at home, only leaving once on Sunday to get some food. I spent my time sleeping, playing with Google maps, reading LJ, watching TV and playing Carcassonne on-line. I relearned the lesson that says "The way to prevent a cat fight is not to grab one of them as they run past."

My mom stopped by on Monday to drop off a late birthday present (Sinead CD) - it had arrived just after I saw her last. I got to show her the new bathroom and introduce her to Tyree.

I'm back at work this week - nothing new on that front.

Found out that Wicked will be coming back to Philadelphia next year. Mike and Joy just saw it this past weekend and loved it. Joy's father is a subscriber and got the option to buy tickets to the return visit before they go on-sale, so we're going to join them when they see it again. July 29th, 2007 - Box seats :)

Tonight we go see David Sedaris with my sister and her husband. No plans for the rest of the week. Saturday is Philly Area Gamers (John Harvard's in Wayne at noon). Looking forward to that because I have some new games to try.

Gah. It's after 2:30 already. Two days ago the day couldn't go fast enough, today it's going way too fast.

Too much to think about, not enough time to figure it all out.
