We had what promised to be an exciting shire meeting last Thursday, but it ran too long, so all the interesting stuff got put off until next month (when it will be at my house...) We did get some good things decided upon at the meeting, so it wasn't a complete waste.
Thursday we went up to the Newcomers meeting. Good sized crowd this month - even included one new person :) He looked like he was having a good time. Jasper brought his supplies and was giving a mini hands-on lesson on making chain mail.
The Cat Clicker kit arrived and I started working with Tyree on Saturday. No progress yet, but I just enlisted
mare_in_flames to lend a hand and double check what I'm doing (Thank you!).
Most of Saturday was spend getting ready for Something Fishy and then hanging out at the event. I won't list everyone we were with, 'cause there were a lot of them and I'd forget some. Since we were too late to get on the dayboard, the gang put together a big picnic of food. Much yumminess that we were able to share with various passerbys. I played and taught a few games, oversaw a small tournament, and missed court (I don't usually miss court, and it would have been nice to have seen some of this one, but I was finishing up a game and then cleaning up).
We left the event tired, hot and brain dead (as seen by the route we took home...); got quick showers and then went off to Amy's nephew's birthday party. I didn't last long there so we didn't stay horribly late as is our usual.
Sunday we went out to an early dinner with
sansobel and her husband, then met up with folks to head down to see Sweeney Todd. Once again the Arden has put on a great performance! I've been a fan of theirs for a long time now (first saw one of their productions during their second season back in 1989/1990), and I really really should get a subscription. Actually, I should see more shows in general...
Monday was a day of relaxing. No one was in the office all day, so no distractions or interruptions. Worked some with Tyree when I got home, then spent most of the evening playing WoW. Dinged level 45 with my Druid, and was trying to help some guild mates hit level 40 so we could go do a quest together when the thunder storm started messing up my net connection. Gave up, logged off, and went down stairs to watch The 4400 with Amy. Not a bad show - plus it had Summer Glau in it. She played a returnee who was crazy, but not made of chocolate (though I do wish she had described the future as being full of spaceships and cowboys).
Consulting work is picking up some. We've got an ultrasound and cattle project, an ultrasound and lumber project, and I just got a call from a previous client who'd like some help with an ultrasound measurement system.
Coming up, more cat training. Brewers Guild meeting on Wednesday. Alles Faire bookkeeping on Thursday. Maybe Dance practice on Friday. The weekend is filled with parties: birthday, graduation, baby shower. Still trying to see if I can hit all of them for at least a little bit.
Next week I've got a visit to Columbia University for some HIFU experiments on Tuesday. A library demo on Thursday - just started to get ready for that. Landsknecht (and Curia) that weekend - no clue if we are daytripping or what yet.
In the CD changer:
1. A Radical Recital - Rasputina
2. Live Goat Watching - Lojo Russo & Funks Grove
3. Here Be Monsters - Burlap Lute
4. Not Compatible With My System - The Kimberly Trip
5. Everlasting Party - Here Come the Mummies
6. Wrecked - The Tim Malloys
