Friday we had tickets to see the newest Cirque show Kà at 7 PM, so we just needed to keep busy until then :)

Made it home, safe and sound. Hey, did you folks know it snowed?

Need to track down who plowed our driveway - very nice of them whoever they are!

Will post remainder of the trip and unlock the earlier posts some time tomorrow.

We spent all of Tuesday in our hotel - never once leaving the building.  Our original plan called for some time at the arcade, some time gambling and riding the roller coaster.  Things didn't quite work out that way.

Monday was our seventh wedding anniversary.  How lucky will number 7 be to us this week? (this year?)  No clue, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

...said the flier they tried to hand us on the Strip.

A few things I forgot to mention from yesterday.  When checking in, the clerk looked at when we were checking out and commented: "A week in Vegas?  Good luck with that."

Our room is on the 34th floor and looks out onto the Strip.  We've got the mini-Statue of Liberty out there, as well as the Manhattan Express roller coaster and views of several other casinos.  Very cool!  The only downside is that the sun rises right in front of us making for an early morning blinding when I open the curtains...

The Good:  In spite of having to get up at 4:30 AM (on a Saturday no less!), and in part because of getting up so early, we made it to the airport and onto the plane well before the snow storm which hit the east coast.  We arrived safely, and even a little early, in Las Vegas where we immediately started wishing we packed more short sleeve shirts and fewer winter jackets.

The Bad: Upon arriving at our hotel room, I  realized that someone had busted the lock on my suit case (cheap lock).  When I opened it, I discovered that they had gotten in and stolen the necklace I was going to give Amy for our anniversary.  It really should have been in our carry on, but there wasn't enough room and I was hoping to surprise her with it.  We've already put a claim in with the airlines, and I'll be following that up with a claim to the travel insurance (which I originally bought to protect us from being delayed or canceled by snow).  So we should be covered for the loss, but it still sucks and put an immediate damper on the trip.

The Beautiful: Shortly after getting off the phone with the airline, and before we headed out for the evening, we got a knock at the door.  It was room service with a gift basket from our friend Sabatina and her husband welcoming us to Vegas and wishing us a happy anniversary.  The timing was perfect to brighten our mood :)  We even took photos.

We've still got two days to go, but I'm getting excited about our vacation.  We fly out at god awful in the morning on Saturday - hopefully missing the snow storm that is expected that afternoon (please, please, please!).  We return at god awful at night the following Saturday.  My mother has offered to drive us to the airport, but as Amy pointed out we need a morning person to get us there and a night owl to get us home (and my mom is neither).  Instead we'll probably just park the car at one of the cheap lots.  Compared to the rest of the trip it doesn't cost that much and at least then we're the only ones trying to get up and drive around (and if things get changed for some reason we have more control).

Can't wait.  Just need to make it there in one piece, in a reasonable amount of time and everything will be good.  The weather out there is calling for temperatures in the 70s for the first part of the week and in the 60s for the later part.  We'll have a car, so we can get around to anything that catches our fancy.  We've got tickets for several shows during the evenings (Cirque!) but the rest of the time is unscheduled.  I want to play poker at some point, but I can't see myself doing that very often.

The down side of things (and it's not a big downside) is that I'll probably feel left out of any social stuff that happens while we're gone (yeah, yeah, poor me, playing in Vegas and missing a movie or just hanging out with friends).  If Pennsic is any indication, as we reach the end of the trip I'll probably be very anxious about how the cats and the house are doing.  We're bringing my laptop, so we'll hopefully have access to email and web, but no World of Warcraft (hopefully withdraw won't be too bad :) ).  Folks who started weeks after I did are already passing me in level, so I expect them all to be way up there by the time I get back.  Hmm... maybe we can add a Munchkin rule to WoW - all discards go to the player with the lowest level :)
