Friday we had tickets to see the newest Cirque show Kà at 7 PM, so we just needed to keep busy until then :)

I wanted to get up early for a change and try to get into a noon poker tournament.  We were successful at getting out of the hotel and made it over to Excalibur for their breakfast buffet (figured we had to do a buffet at least once).  The food was pretty good and there was certainly plenty of it.  After that we made our way over to Luxor to check in on the poker situation.  We missed the cut off for the noon tourney, and the next one wasn't until 8:30, so no tournaments for me this trip.  They would be opening up a some $1-2 tables after their poker lessons, so we signed up for those and went to wander.  I played a few more slots and Amy visited the blackjack table - this time actual blackjack.  I did ok, but she did very well - almost doubling what she started with.

When it came time for the lessons we wandered back to the poker room.  The lessons turned out to be mostly a chance to play poker without risking real money.  The dealer would comment on things, and correct people as they played, but they didn't really teach anything.  We played for a while at the $1-2 table until I busted out.  Since Amy was a bit ahead at that point we cashed out and went looking for an early dinner.

We ended up at the Nine Fine Irishmen pub back in NY-NY, and enjoyed some good (if pricey) Irish food along with a nice hard cider.  Neat piece of info - this pub was built by the same company who made the Kildare's pubs back home.  Amy picked up a tin whistle for me at their gift shop (since we've been unsuccessful at finding the ones we should have in the house somewhere).

After dinner we went over to the MGM and got in line for .  Once inside, the first thing that stuck me was the theater layout.  On either side of the audience were several metal pillars connected by multilevel walkways.  The stage wasn't really a stage, but rather a narrow walkway between the audience and a large open area where the rest of the stage should be.  Instead of a traditional stage, Kà used a floating platform which could be placed at all sorts of angles (from horizontal to completely vertical).  Of all the Cirque shows I've seen,  Kà has the strongest storyline - it can be felt and followed through out the entire show.  There was less fire then I expected, but I didn't miss it.  They used their stage for some incredible effects, and the creature costumes were very wild.  The prisoner cage act had both Amy and I on the edge of our seats - no safety wires for those guys and some of the stunts they pulled - oh my!  Highly, highly recommended.

Since I already had my t-shirt, we skipped the rush at the gift store and wandered back through the casino.  We had decided that if there were tickets left we would go see Le Femme, the other permanent show at the MGM Grand.  Le Femme is show from the Crazy Horse in Paris, and in fact the theater is supposed to be an exact reproduction of the set up there (I missed my opportunity to visit the original, so I can't compare the two).  It's a great show, especially if you'd like something a bit classier then the usual Vegas topless show.  It was a good way to wrap up the week.

We only took a few pictures today (and no, none during the show).
