Next October we're going to be visiting Disney World for our friend's wedding (yay!!!). I haven't been to Disney World in over 20 years (Michael Jackson's Captain EO was the brand new attraction at Epcot when I was last there).

For those of you who are big fans, or have just been there more recently, what are the must see attractions? What are your favorites?

The only thing on my list right now is seeing the Cirque du Soleil show La Nouba.

Soarin (I think that is how it's spelled) at Epcot.
Also, get into the parks early and know what you are going to do.
Kel and I actually got most of the rides we wanted to do in all the parks before 1 and hit all 4 parks in 3 days.

It wouldn't be Disneyworld without a stop at Space Mountain.

Also:
The "car test track" ride at Epcot
The new space ride also at Epcot
Dinner in the France pavilion
Lunch or dinner at Bongo's Cuban restaurant
Star Tours, the Star Wars ride, which is at Disney-MGM
If it's still there, the design-your-own roller coaster ride in Downtown Disney.

Do be sure to get an all-parks or multi-park pass. We loved being able to bop around from park to park.

Unfortunately Virtual Space Mountain, and all of Disney Quest in fact, is gone.

Pirates of the Carribean was cool. The Monster Inc comedy club was very good. SciFi diner was good. Most of the other food was very good as well.
Too bad about the Adventurers Club...

See La Nouba, but dont hold it too high in your expectations. I have seen several of the Cirques and they generally hold my attention quite well, but that one, I kept falling asleep.

If you're a ride person, The Rocking Rollercoaster at MGM is the only WDW inversion, I believe. Ryan and I once road it 11 times in a row! Expedition Everest in the Animal Kingdom gives you an awesome view of pretty much everything and is also a lot of fun. Space Mountain and Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom are also pretty neat. Soarin' in EPCOT is charming, but try to get a fast pass for it because I personally feel that it isn't worth standing in line for 90 minutes to ride it (although the queue music is great!)

lunch break is over. Ask us about it tomorrow night :)

Rockin Rollercoaster is one of my favorites, but its also one that builds up a line fast. We generally go there at park opening, early opening if we can (early opening is one of the few perks you still get for staying in a Disney hotel) and ride it until the line gets too long. Soarin' is pretty much the worst wait in the park, late in the day the line just to get a Fast Pass is longer than the lines to ride almost anything else in the park. Our plan usually involved heading right to Soarin at park opening, getting a Fast Pass and then getting in line. That way you were pretty much guaranteed two rides.

Matt really enjoyed the Rockin Roller Coaster when he was there. It's on my list of things to do, definitely.

We also plan to go on It's a Small World (once and *only* once).

And, heck, I don't know, everything. I've never been to Disney so I want to do and see pretty much everything.

Jim Henson's Muppet*Vision 3D It was a riot when we were there...and it appears to still be there, so I highly recommend it. Also Star Tracks.

Sorry, Star Tours, not Star Tracks. It's the Star Wars ride. Was great fun when we were there.

Also, as others have said, the food at Morocco at Epcot was out of this world when we were there.

Soaring at Epcot and the Test Track were definately fun.

Avoid mission to Mars - it's one of those rides that spins to simulate the excessive gravity of a spaceship takeoff, etc. We were sooooo green in the gills by the time we got off that, it wasn't even funny. And I *like* spinning rides!

Its tough to predict who will and won't have problems with Mission Space. I get sick even watching the Teacups, but I can ride Mission Space with no problems. On the bright side, they did add a non-spinning option in case you don't want to chance it.

My Parents live in Kissimmee so I go down about 2 times a year. The list is way too long for things that need to be seen. Heh Add to that there are many new things that are about to open.

Short list of my "must sees"

MGM... Star Tours (going to go through a renovation and program change)

Star Wars Jedi Academy. Fun show.

Muppets 3D...take some time to walk around the building and take special note to all the signs and extras.

Animation studio walk through. Pretty neat

Block Party Parade....high energy fun

Tower of Terror

Rockin Roller Coaster

Animal Kingdom
Finding Nemo musical show

Expedition Everest! Fun roller coaster

Safari bus tour

It's Tough To Be A Bug

Disney World

Monsters, Inc Laugh Floor

Haunted Mansion and Pirates have had upgrades but are still wonderful entertainment staples.

Everything else

EPCOT

Eat at Morocco! Good food everywhere

It will also be their Food and Wine Festival in October. (also "Eat to the Beat" so look for performer schedules closer to date. It's where I saw Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.)

Soarin'

The Sea with Nemo and friends.

TEST TRACK

Mission Space (it's a centrifuge ride...I believe they now have a stationary version for people with issues)

Pretty much anything there is fun.

OK... There you have it. A short list. I can talk with you at any point if you want for more info.

The food...YUM.

The performers in the countries in Epcot are cool. Oooh, you definitely need to see the big splashy performance at Animal Kingdom. And the bird show was tre cool.

Personally, when we went, it was just nice to get away and immerse ourselves in the "Disney cheer".

Most of the high points have been covered, but my tuppence:

MGM, IMO, has the best rides. As others have said, the Rock'n'Roller Coaster is excellent -- one of my favorite coasters anywhere. (Although it's quite short.) Muppetvision 3D is a must: just a show, but good Muppetude. (It is one of the few rides that you specifically *want* to see the long pre-show while you're waiting.) Star Tours probably started after you last visited; it's "old", but still delightful (and the lines are now short). And Tower of Terror is a hoot, if you can cope with rides that drop you.

La Nouba is a middling Cirque Show. It was the first one we saw, and it was good enough to get us to see more.

We generally plan to do dinner in Epcot most evenings. France has a couple of fine restaurants; China, Mexico and Japan are good but not exceptional. We haven't yet done Morocco or the new Italy for dinner, but I gather they're both very good. Norway is -- well, good if you like that sort of thing, but it wasn't to my taste. There are also a number of dinner options over in Pleasure Island; as [livejournal.com profile] msmemory says, Bongo's proved really excellent for us.

If you miniature golf, Fantasia Fairways (out by the Swan and Dolphin hotels) is a must. It has two full-sized courses, one of which is a good but conventional mini-golf, and the other of which is the most brutal putting green in the entire world.

If the weather is good, there are a couple of water parks on the property. (Do *not* bother with the mini-golf near Blizzard Beach, which was a real disappointment.)

If staying on-site is an option, I commend it: we've stayed at a few different places, and it makes for a particularly pleasant time.

ETA: Oh, and if you happen to be in Epcot at a time when Off Kilter is playing in the Canada area (typically a couple of times a day), I recommend them: fun rock with bagpipes. I've wound up buying all their albums...

Ok, so have to go to Epcot and see Figment. He's in the Journey into Imagination ride. His ride was much cooler ages ago, but you can't miss seeing my favorite character anyway. :)
Also in Epcot is Soarin, which can have a long line but there's video games in the line if it's long enough, so we had fun with that the 1 time we waited longer.
Wander around Food & Wine, it's cool but there's not any 1 can't miss thing.

MGM has Muppets, and Rockin Roller Coaster (the single rider line will get you in a little faster if you're in a rush, or just get a fastpass, though the line really wasn't bad when we went), and the new Toy Story ride which was cool but wasn't really worth the 75 minute wait... maybe that will go down by next year since it just opened a few months ago.

Animal Kingdom is great for a relaxing day. Go on the safari first thing in the morning, and the river rapids are supposed to be great but I've never gone when it's warm enough I want to get soaked.

Magic Kingdom you'll want to do all 3 mountains (Space, Splash, Big Thunder), and Buzz Lightyear (which seems to have gotten a little buggy now that it's older, so take the controller on the right, they always work better). Everything else is fun too. Watch the Spectromagic parade at night.

Disney Quest, with the build your own roller coaster thing, does still exist, and is almost right next to Cirque. We found Disney Quest ok but not really worth it. Except for the bumper cars with cannons. :) We didn't try the roller coaster thing though cause I wasn't feeling good and the 3D magic carpet adventure (wearing goggles with the game screen) made me so dizzy I couldn't consider a roller coaster!
