So, I'm driving through a tiny village in upstate New York, late on Friday night.  We're running about two hours behind schedule and have been driving for most of the evening.  Suddenly there is a cop behind me with his lights on - damn.  I pull over, turn off the engine and roll down the window.  The cop comes over and briefly explains that he was going to give me a ticket, but after getting a closer look at my license plate, realized that he couldn't, and that we were free to go.

I could do that, but then it wouldn't be nearly as stange a story. :)

I'll post the rest of the details in a little bit. I'm curious to see what other people may guess.
