Since I'm about to respond to a whole bunch of them...
If you comment...
1. I'll respond with something random I like about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll name something we should do together.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal so you can do the same for other people.

4. Like I'm going to have any better luck with this then you are...
5. So many choices, but none stick out more then the others.
6. "The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not 'Eureka!' (I found it!) but 'That's funny ...'"
7. So what degree are you working on and what are your plans after you get it?

Date: 2006-04-14 04:29 am (UTC)7. I am working on my phd in biomedical sciences, with a specialization in gene function and expression (yep, its a mouthful). My main interest is in cancer research, and which genes are crucial to the growth of cancer and therefore would make good targets for treatments.
It will most likely take me about 5 more years to get it done, and after that, I'm hoping to accept a post-doctorate position in a research lab where I can get a bit more experience and work on getting published before I start applying for teaching positions. Ultimately, I'd like to always be working in a research lab at a medical center in some capacity or another.
(wow, that was probably a far longer answer than you wanted :-)

Date: 2006-04-14 12:15 pm (UTC)I work with researchers from time to time, but none of them are dealing with genetic level stuff. It lets me cheat and get published without having gotten the higher degree ;)
