Too much

Too much to think about, not enough time to figure it all out.

- Went to a midnight showing of the new Star Wars movie. Fine action flick, but nothing great really. Enjoyed the atmosphere (fans rented entire theater, and proved food and drinks) as much as the movie.

- Went to Rhode Island to see the pre-release screening of Serenity last Thursday. Absolutely loved it. If they do another screening, I will try and see it again (just, locally this time...). I was able to find folks to use all the extra tickets I had gotten. One of them gave me a really cool Serenity Crossing sign. You can see it and this guy's other stuff at his web page. Just click on Signs and scroll down. Got home safe and sound a little after 6 AM on Friday (only needed two 30 minute naps on the trip back)

- The touring show for Wicked will be hitting Philadelphia and Washington DC, but the only way to get tickets right now is to subscribe to their entire season; which I'm not to interested in (sorry, I don't need to see Annie ever, and I've no interest in Doctor Dolittle or the Lion King...). Hopefully there will still be tickets left when they start selling the shows separately. (Hey, Carol Kane is in the traveling show!)

- We're seriously looking into seeing Spamalot again while Alan Tudyk is there. Anyone else interested?

- Survived Alles Faire by hanging out at the archery range all weekend and not staying over night. Many thoughts on the event and shire, but I'll save them for another post.

- At mare_in_flames's suggestion, we're getting a clicker and book to see if we can train Tyree to behave himself around the other cats.

- Finally bought a 20' extension ladder last night, now maybe I can fix the gutter that is falling off my roof...

- Chatted with Irina. She's currently in Vegas (and has been for most of the year). Got her to sign up for LJ so we can keep track of her :) She's parrotrn (and now that I read her first post, I understand the user name)

Having avoided most of the event, it will be more a post about me vs. the event then actual thoughts about this past weekend. Still, it's something I want to get down on "paper"

You know, Mike, if I had been able to figure out how to get a two year old to make the trip to Rhode Island without making me nuts and then found a babysitter for the duration of the movie, I'd a been right there with you. Keep us posted if they do it locally. I'm not sure I can wait til September...

They actually had screenings in Philadelphia and Washington DC - they just sold out before I got to them. I'll be sure to post something if I hear of another screening.

jducoeur still owes me Spamalot tickets from Christmas. The box office apparently is booking next winter at this point :( I don't care whether I see Tudyk or Azaria or whoever (as long as I see Tim Curry!).

Well, Tudyk starts on June 6th, but I don't know if Azaria is coming back or not.

When I did some searching tonight, I found some ok seats available in August. The search isn't the easiest to use - it won't tell you what's sold out before you pick your date.

I was able to pull up 4 tickets for the 2 PM, Aug 27th show. I could also get blocks of 10 tickets for most 2 PM Saturday shows in September. All were Mezzanine seats. What I can't figure out is what shows still have orchestra center seats available.
(Some show do have what they call "premium seats" available, but those are over $250 each)

Thank you! I had promised msmemory Spamalot tix for Christmas, and had been unable to find an open seating this *year*. Apparently, the box office has tickets that sites like broadway.com don't have. Pity their UI is so awful -- I had spent a fair while on it at first, but hadn't made it through the end of August.

Okay, we're going to this show (August 27th) -- the tickets are up in the balcony, and are partial view, but they're better than nothing. If y'all decide to also hit this show, we might do dinner together or something...

Tudyk/Azaria

"He replaces Hank Azaria who is leaving in early June to film a second season of his Showtime television series "Huff."

Tudyk joins the hit musical, based on the film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," sometime during the week of June 6. Azaria will return to the show in late November for another six months."
