Introducing Tyree...

On Saturday we dragged my sister and brother-in-law up to our friend's house to help pick up Tyree:

The pickup was a little stressful for him - our attempts to get him in the carrier failed and we ended up just hand carrying him and letting roam the backseat during the trip home. He calmed down during the ride, mostly trying to hide and occasionally meowing.
He's settling in nicely. He has his own room, and likes to climb up the comic boxes to get to the top of the cabinet. So far his interactions with the girls has been to hiss at them, but nothing more. They on the other hand are extremely curious about him and try to sneak in when we go to visit. (I've tried to explain the whole curiosity/cat thing to them but they won't listen). So far their reactions to his hissing have been typical - Grimalkin runs away, Gunther just watches from a distance, and Mughi is too deaf to notice so just ignores him.
He had his first (with us) vet visit today, got him up to date on all his shots and got a clean bill of health on everything else. He weighted in at 16.5 pounds. The vet was fine with that, but would be even happier with 14 lbs. Apart from crying in the car, Tyree was the perfect patient - not a scratch on me (just a ton of fur...).
Our next step, will be to pen the girls up in the bedroom and let Tyree out to explore the house for an hour or so (depending on what he's interested in doing). Eventually we'll just open all the doors and let them interact or not as they choose, but that probably won't be until this weekend at the earliest.
