Snagged from
sk4p while browsing my friend's friends list: Doc Martens for the Endless. Very cool.
Can't remember what I did two Fridays ago. I think we visited with
beckishadow and
singewulf, but only because I can't remember what day we were out there.
Wait - just found an email I sent myself when we were there - it was Friday :) Spent the evening hanging out, relaxing and playing silly videos that we found on-line.
Saturday was the funeral down in Maryland. I find most funerals overwhelming, and this one was no exception (add that to my list of behaviors and reactions I should look into). Still, I'm glad we were able to go.
Sunday we went over to Les's place in Philly for a Brew-B-Que. Helped him make 10 gallons of beer, 10 gallons of mead and 6 gallons of wine. Got to meet his wife and some of their friends - good folks.
Monday was supposed to be fencing practice, but it got cancelled. Instead we went out to dinner at Max & Erma's, and ran some errands. Probably watched some TV (it all runs together after a while - we keep up with Veronica Mars, Lost, Dead Like Me, plus have some shows on DVD that we are working through).
Tuesday I spent the day down in Maryland at the FDA. Tried to visit the Barbarian Bookstore on the way home, but they had moved. The good news is that I found where they moved to. The bad news is that they are closed on Tuesdays... Hit another used bookstore in the same area and found a few things I was looking for along with a book on chess pieces. Lots of pictures :)
Wednesday,
violet_amy was out at an SCA class. I went up to the homebrew store and picked up a few things for my mead class. Turns out I missed one of my students by about 10 minutes. Spent the rest of the evening racking mead and wine to get ready for Friday.
Thursday evening was supposed to be EK History, but I wound up working on some code for work, while
violet_amy finished up sorting the exchequer files.
Finally reached Friday and my mead making class. It went fairly well, three new brewers and one who's brewed before. One person started a batch at my house, the others will be starting at home. I've got a good feel for what I'll do differently when I give the class again on the 9th.
Saturday we slept in, then
violet_amy made some yummy pumpkin dip for a halloween party we were going to later. We stopped in to visit our friends Paula and Kevin for a while, and then headed over to the party. We were bums and didn't do any costumes, but thankfully many of the others there did the same thing, so I didn't feel too bad. Had a good time, played a very close game of Munchkin and headed home when
violet_amy was falling asleep.
Sunday we went out to brunch at Kildare's, on our own for a change, and then went shopping at Best Buy. We picked up a DVD recorder, so now we've got a new toy to play with :) Spent the rest of the day doing laundry, waiting for trick-or-treaters (got 11 total) and watching the last of Alias season 2 (7 eps in one sitting).
Tonight should be fencing, but I've not seen a reminder about it. It seems all shire activities need a reminder the day before or we forget about them. Now in the case of fencing it's more like a confirmation that nothing has caused the practice to be cancelled. If it does get cancelled, I think I'll go play poker at Kildare's. Voting tomorrow morning and then playing D&D in the evening (nothing like killing monsters to take your mind off elections). Shire meeting on Thursday, then Friday we're off to Boston for an SCA event on Saturday. Could be a good week (we'll know by Wednesday morning...)
