Yeah, eventually I'll turn a picture of me into a userpic, but until then you're stuck with this.
Had a pretty quiet weekend. Took Friday off because there was no billable work for me to do and I wanted to get some stuff done at home. Spent it doing laundry, watching short films that Tivo had saved for me and finishing up my new D&D character.
I've not had the chance to play D&D all year - the one game I'm in got put on hold around Thanksgiving and hasn't picked back up yet. Just recently though I got asked if I wanted to join the game Amy is in. They started over a year ago with 7 players and now they are down to just 3 (two graduated last year, one graduates this year and one just got too busy to play). Up until now, all the players and characters have been women (the DM has been the only guy in the game). In addition to my wife, there is Becki and Mary (who is also my Pelican). Mary's husband Finn is the DM. The group will definitely be fun - the only catch is that they are making me play a female character. Could be interesting, could be weird :)
Friday night we went out to dinner at La Campagnola with Neale, Becki and Becki's mom. Good food - I still wish we could find an Italian place like that near us. Spent the evening playing games.
Saturday was more work around the house - I went out and cleaned up sticks that had fallen in the yard. I wanted to do more out there, but I got tired and my large breakfast was encouraging me to take a nap (or at least stop wandering around picking up sticks). That night was poker night. Seven player this time, one of whom hadn't played with us before. We lowered the buy in to $10, to make the game less costly to couples. It doesn't seem to have effected how people play, so that was nice. Didn't win anything this time, but Amy came in third.
Sunday morning, I paid bills and balanced the accounts. Still can't retire.
We went over to my mother-in-laws house for Easter dinner. Lots of Amy's family were in attendance, plus my mom. It was nice, ate lots of good food. I'm still not comfortable around really little kids, but I had no problems.
Started to read my next book while I was there: Jasper Fforde's "The Eyre Affair" I'm liking this one a lot - but it won't last much longer, so I'm going to have to pick up his other titles as well. Besides, how many authors offer upgrades to their books?
I'm skipping fencing practice tonight in order to finish my taxes. Actually I finished most of them a few months ago - even got my federal refund already. I just need to finish up state and local (both of whom I owe money to). I also need to clean up the living room because Tuesday is our first D&D session (well, my first, their next), they are moving the game to our house because it's a little more central to the players. Wednesday is the brewers guild meeting - need to schedule some time to bottle (or keg) the beer we made last month.
Thursday we take off for Ohio (taking Friday off again). My protégé sister and her husband are being invested as the new baroness and baron of their group. A few of us in the household are going to make the trip out there to celebrate and lend support if needed. The only down side is that I'm going to miss an archery event this Saturday that I had planned on attending.
Looks to be another busy week.
