Short week...

Ok, last week was a short week, but this one feels short for some reason.
Help out at our shire's Green Lane demo over the weekend. Spent both days teaching a few period games to anyone who got close enough to listen :) Sold some game boards for a shire fund raiser (sold 24 on Saturday and 8 on Sunday). We sold less this year then last year, but I was in a better location last year.
Monday was fencing practice, but it got canceled. Didn't find out in time to bring my gym stuff to work, so I just went right home (yes, I could have gone home and then gone to the gym, but I don't do that.) Instead I caught up on some email, and tried to find out what was wrong with out DSL connection (noisy phone line - need to figure out if it is inside or outside). Later my sister stopped by - I had offered to help her scan some slides. It took a bit to figure out what we were doing, and we'll probably want to re-scan some of the ones we did, but we got through her professional portfolio (20 slides). Eventually we'll put them up on a web site. If I get a chance tomorrow I may put up one or two of them.
Tuesday was D&D, but it got canceled. Instead, I went to the gym, and wore myself out - no surprise, I'm still getting over a cold. Spent the rest of the evening watching Alias season 1.
Today I went back to New York. This time I had to bring a bulky computer system with me, so I drove instead of taking the train. Took less time to get there by car then it does by train. The only down side of driving is I couldn't get any reading done. The up side of the trip was actually identifying the problem we've been chasing for the last few months. Turn out to be two problems, a driver incompatibility which was masking a hardware failure that occurred after we started working on the problem (follow that?). During lunch I got to see the Statue of Liberty for the first time - way off in the distance, and mostly blocked by buildings, but it's still the first time I've seen it.
Tomorrow is EK History night, and I may actually be able to get something accomplished for a change. I've not really done much since Pennsic.
Friday is Gamesters and Newcomers, no clue if anyone is planning to come (which is normal, and fine)
Saturday I'm running games at a small SCA event in NJ. Should be interesting, but I don't know anyone else who is going.
Sunday I need to pick up some grape juice from the home brew store, but beyond that nothing is scheduled. I may brew, or I may try and get folks to see a movie (brunch & a movie anyone? -
hughcasey reminded me that Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow opens this weekend)

Sky Captain! Woohoo!
Date: 2004-09-16 04:33 am (UTC)HW failure subsequent to existing driver problem? What a pain in the ass! Good show for figuring THAT one out. :P

Date: 2004-09-16 06:58 am (UTC)Next time I need to clean the scanner, and better control the brightness/contrast of the images, because a few of them are washed out. Here is an example of one that worked out ok: Poppets (scanned at 300 dpi, then reduce 50% for the web)

Date: 2004-09-16 05:01 am (UTC)Damn, why does that have to happen on the not-payday-weekend when funds are tight because of the move and all???

Date: 2004-09-16 07:01 am (UTC)I've been doing these brunch and a movie things every couple of weeks recently. Brunch is nice (but slightly expensive) Irish fare at Kildare's in King of Prussia, and the movie is usually a early morning matinee (so at least that part is cheaper). Some folks join us just for breakfast, others just for the movie, and a few for both.

Date: 2004-09-16 08:18 am (UTC)Never been to Lakewood, but it sounds fun. I also thought about going to the Wrightstown demo, but I'm not going to make it there this year.
