Ubercon

I'm thinking about going to Ubercon this November 2nd-4th. Anyone interested in going along?
I go mostly for the board games, but they've got RPGs, PC and console games as well.

No clue who the guests will be this year, but in the past Rich Burlew, Pete Abrams and Erica Henderson usually are there.

One of these days I need to get to a World Fantasy con, but not this year.

Have you been before? If so, how does it compare to other cons?

I haven't been to one this big. I've heard mixed things about World Fantasy, to tell you the truth. I'll give you a report afterward. =D

If nothing else is going on next Memorial Day weekend, we should all go to Balticon. Ubercon is all games, while Balticon (and Philcon this November) are more well rounded - games, art, books, tv, anime, movies, etc.

Speaking of books: Any of these authors (http://www.loc.gov/bookfest/authors/) I should be sure not to miss?

Well, Terry Pratchett is a lot of fun - more so if you've read and like his books. The only other one I recognize is Harry Turtledove, but I don't think I've read any of his (many many) books.

I'm still waiting for Balticon to announce their guests for next year. Their web page still has this year's information.

Terry Pratchett and Joyce Carol Oates were the only ones I'd heard of this year. 2 years ago, the list was full of people I had read, but I was introduced to Patricia Wrede, which was great.

Balticon still hasn't updated their webpage, but I found out that their guest of honor will be Connie Willis. Great author and fun speaker.

They failed to check my schedule. I'm performing on the 4th, and if I wasn't - I'd be at Ambercon NorthWest.

Yeah, they didn't check mine either, but they did send me an email to let me know that they picked a date. Fortunately my options for that weekend hadn't come together yet.

I'd love to, but I will be in NY at Crown Tourney then... Too bad, its like 45 minutes from my place an I've never gone. Always something keeping me from going. One day, it will rue my presence! Oh, I mean enjoy, yeah, that's it...
