News from the Kingdom

My first (and main) character is Wolffauer. I made the mistake of deciding to go for level 30 with him on his first ascension. This meant I had to spend lots of time (weeks) just running him through the same adventures so he could level up (after level 15 there isn't really anything new to do - most of the time folks just ascend and start over at level 1).

So, while I was working with him to finish that I created Marfu to play a more regular game. But then on his first ascension I entered him into a contest my clan was having for a hardcore oxygenarian run (hardcore = no access to outside help, the mall, etc; oxygenarian = can't eat or drink to gain stats or additional adventures). Stupid!

So having trapped two characters, I went and created a third - Mr_Punch. I'm being smart (He can learn!) and keeping him out of silly contests and difficult runs, so I'll alway have at least one character to play the "normal" game with. He is already on his third ascension.

On the 9th Wolffauer finish his level 30 run (after 119 days) and went into a hardcore run to collect the tattoo and award items. Tomorrow, if all goes well, Marfu should finish his oxycore run (after about 48 days), he'll stay away from hardcore from now on - I may build his skills up so I can do lots of cooking/mixing/crafting etc for the clan. No clue what Mr_Punch's ultimate goal will be.

So, I'd heard a lot about "Kingdom of Loathing" but never checked it out. Your entry prompted me finally to look into it. An hour and a half later, I'm level 3! Oh, wait, wasn't I supposed to be doing work-like stuff?
