Book one in a new fantasy series by LMB. I was hoping for a new Chalion book, but this one has good characters and a very interesting world. Unfortunately it is only part one of a longer story, so now I get to wait for the next book (some time next year I believe).

Date: 2006-11-15 04:07 pm (UTC)I was disappointed in this one, though. Most of the book was love story as opposed to setting up the rest of the plot. I happen to like love stories, and am happy to relax with a cheesy romance novel sometimes, but I expected more fantasy plot and less of the other.

Date: 2006-11-15 05:19 pm (UTC)Also ditto on the Miles comment. If Bujold picks up that story thread again, my money is on the adventures of a Miles Jr. (or a Millicent). That's what most authors seem to do once they get their characters to a good place. Count on those rebellious offspring to carry the torch of misadventure! ^_^
