Friday night was an SCA demo at the family fun night of one of the local elementary schools. We had a great turn out and put on a good show. I taught some games to a dozen or so kids. Sent a few parents home with copies of the rules and diagrams to make their own boards. We should have checked with the school to see if we could sell game boards and t-shirts, but no big deal.

Saturday was some gaming - good sized crowd. First I played Citadels with [livejournal.com profile] shadowpony, [livejournal.com profile] moirla, [livejournal.com profile] mare_in_flames, and [livejournal.com profile] notshakespeare. It's a pretty good game, easy to learn but with some depth and good player interaction to keep it interesting. After that several games were running at once, including Seafarers of Catan, Shadows Over Camelot, Empyrean, Inc., Paranoia Mandatory Bonus Fun Card Game and Hero Clix. We didn't get to play Killer Bunnies or Carcassonne - Hunters and Gatherers both of which I was hoping to try.

The group was rounded out by [livejournal.com profile] vonbryan, [livejournal.com profile] ubidubium, [livejournal.com profile] singewulf, [livejournal.com profile] rarcke, [livejournal.com profile] revsaintmichael, [livejournal.com profile] rjsilverthorn, [livejournal.com profile] neoparn, [livejournal.com profile] merricke, [livejournal.com profile] lemonherb, [livejournal.com profile] kathy_the_geek, [livejournal.com profile] hughcasey, [livejournal.com profile] deni_the_pooh, [livejournal.com profile] beckishadow and our friends Paul, Merrilee, Mike and Joy (all of whom need to join the collective and get LJ accounts ;) )

Gaming didn't go too late and we ended the evening hanging out with Paul and Merrilee and hearing about their trip to England.

Sunday we were pretty lazy, getting up late, having meals made from what ever was lying around on the table, etc. We watched Underworld, which was not as bad as I expected. Not a classic by any means, but an ok action flick (with vampires and werewolves).

Later we went out to catch up with [livejournal.com profile] revsaintmichael and friends to see Underworld Evolution. I was quite surprised to discover it was a romantic family film (with vampires, werewolves, sex and lots of bloody fights). Good fun. Got to meet [livejournal.com profile] kemidra, [livejournal.com profile] yagathai, [livejournal.com profile] purple_medusa, and [livejournal.com profile] bluharlequin after the film, but we weren't able to join them for gelato - [livejournal.com profile] violet_amy needed real food badly and had a hankering for Outback.

We're staying in Plymouth meeting this weekend. We have some apartment hunting and some heavy duty packing to do in North Wales, but if you and Amy would like to get together one night for dinner and play Hunters and Gatherers, we are up for it. There has to be a Denny's or something where we can camp out. If not, I'll be sure to bring it to the Gaming group a week from saturday.

If y'all want to apartment hunt and game in Plymouth Meeting, I've got my place. It's Sussex Square Apartments, right around the corner from the mall.

I'm up for it. The places we're looking at are either north wales/horsham or we may just sign the place in malvern. we'll know by saturday morning, but either way evenings are free if you're interested. We're staying at summerhill suites right there cause well, they are cheap via priceline. :) Gotta love 40 bucks a night for a room.

We were sorry not to make gaming.. but the good news is that serious movement was made on the house. The pantry is clean and organized, and my desk on the first floor has only desk-y things in it.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to get there this time...

...but I did make serious inroads on defeating a troublesome scroll!

I do deplore celtic knotwork....

MEEPLES! I must admit, it was odd to come to game day and not sit in on a Carcassone, but I have developed a new fondness for Catan... I've decided to ask the FSM to bless the germans...

I REALLY liked Seafarers, it has an element of exploration to it, gotta love the unknown :) I heard Knights adds a bit of Risk to the Monopoly element. I like Risk. More *dice*!
