Unsolicited Recommendation

A few days ago,
jducoeur had a post asking for music recommendations. In the process of reading the responses and following some of the music links, I was led to an on-line music store:
CD Baby
I bought the CD that led me there, then went on to add several more to my cart. I love this place.
I love the way the site looks and works: simple HTML pages, lots of useful cross references, no pop-ups, no ads. All of the music is by independent artists - stuff I'm not likely to find on my own. They've also got plenty of sample tracks and a money back guarantee (handy for music you've never heard).
Cool features from their site:
Sounds Like search: Enter the name of a famous artist that you like and get back a list of CDs they think you'll like.
Browse by style (Rock, Folk, Kids/Family, etc), mood (Angry, Intellectual, Quirky, etc) or type (Acoustic, Lyrical, Experimental, etc).
Plus my favorite: Flavor: browse to match your mood, an occasion, or other weird and interesting topics. For example: Music to Drink a Pint To, Smash! Burn! Destroy! Rage!, Seedy Circus on the Wrong Side of Town, for People Who Don't Like Music, and who could miss Naked on CD Cover :)
I even spotted a few groups I already knew about, like Ookla the Mok (not to be confused with Ooklah the Moc, who they also carry), Hannah Fury, Urban Tapestry, and Tom Smith.
They've got a great sense of humor, from an email letting me know the CDs shipped:
"We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of Portland waved 'Bon Voyage!' to your package, on its way to you, in our private CD Baby jet on this day, Sunday, June 6th."
Of the stuff I got in my first order, I strongly recommend:
Circus Contraption & Jill Tracy. Both are already getting played heavily here.
They take their indy seriously :) From their About page:
"No Microsoft products were used in the creation of this website."
