Finished this on Friday:
4. Waiting for Godalming - Robert Rankin
For folks not familiar with Mr. Rankin's books, he is a British humorist along the lines of Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams and Tom Holt. His stuff has an absurdest bent to it which I like, plus the more of his books I read the more I enjoy his style (grows on you). He has fun playing with words and language, while messing around with whatever genre/topic/thing he's chosen to write about. This book was a play on 1950's detective novels, with our hero, Lazlo Woodbine, investigating the murder of God. Along the way we meet God's wife and children, Lazlo's Guardian Sprout Barry and the wrong'uns. See what I mean?
The last book of his I read, "The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse", was also a bit a of a detective mystery, only the detective had gone missing... In his place was Wee Willy Winkle's stuffed bear (Eddie Bear, partner of Toy City detective Bill Winkle), and Jack a new arrival to Toy City. Together they try and track down who is killing off the rich old nursery rhyme characters...
My kind of weird :)
