Cat update...
May. 18th, 2011 04:31 pmBootsie settled in and started eating within a week of getting here. Since then she has continued to eat (and use the litter box!), but is still just hanging out in the garage. As soon as we can schedule it, we will be catching her again and taking her to the vet to get spayed. If need be, she will recover back here and then head back out to Kim's neighborhood.
Eir and Tyr have settled down again and things seem back to normal (the whole pregnant and kitten thing freaked them out a bit). I've seen them interact with each other some, but not tons. Eir has mostly claimed the closet, while Tyr sticks with a little cat house (off camera...).
Eir will have her first vet visit on the 31st - hopefully getting a full work up and staying to be spayed. It will no doubt be an exciting trip for both of us.
I rechecked with Kim about their birthday and she figured out it was around May 7, 2010, so they are actually just over a year old now.
Tyr and I had some interesting interaction last night. I was heading upstairs to read for a while, and when I turned on the hall light he was hanging out by the scratching post in the office (usually if I'm moving around they will hide). So I laid down on the floor in the hall and talked with him for a bit - he just watched me cautiously. Eventually Gunther came upstairs so I sat there petting and playing with her for a bit. When I peaked at him, I noticed he had moved closer. I kept at it, and he kept moving closer. Eventually he was right at the gate watching Gunther and I. He hissed if I put my hand toward him. Gunther hissed when she leaned in toward him. But neither ran nor acted aggressive at all. Grimalkin joined us, but wouldn't get too close. Tyr was very interested in one of the scratching toys we were playing with - I wonder if I can set up some sort of toy going through the baby gates that all the cats could play with.
Gunther has her annual checkup next week. I think she's put on weight since I switched to wet food for them. Otherwise she is in good shape - her fur is slowing growing back from where she was chewing it.
Grimalkin continues to be the Best Patient Ever, taking her twice a day shots without complaint to struggle. I need to have another glucose curve done with her. Does anyone have an old blood sugar meter I could borrow? The vets use the Accu-chek Advantage, but if I need to buy one I'll probably go with the ReliOn from Walmart.
( And yes, there are some pictures... )
