17. Midnight Riot - Ben Aaronovitch
Peter Grant is a probationary constable in London, when he discovers that magic is real. From their he become an apprentice to the only wizard in London (also a cop), charged with protecting the public from the supernatural. The magic system isn't as well developed as that of the Dresden novels (at least not yet), but there is a good mix of science with the magic (in fact Issac Newton is credited with codifying the earliest system of magic). Very enjoyable read, and I'll be keeping an eye out for the next one.
