UberCon games report 3

Sunday morning we went to Herald's for breakfast and split a cheese omelette (12 eggs) and a pancake (the size of a pizza). Plenty of left overs again, that have fed me for two more meals and counting (I still have pancake left). In addition to being huge, the pancake was pretty thick and very tasty - almost but not quite like vanilla cake.
Sunday
The first game of the day was Diamant. A very light and quick push your luck game. You are exploring a series of mines by flipping over a card - the card will either have a number of gems on it which are then split up between the players (remainders are left on the card) or one of five disasters. After each card you have the option of pressing on or turning back. If you turn back you collect any of the gems left on previous cards (splitting them equally if more then one person turns back) and you get to keep all the gems you received in that mine. If you press on, then another card is flipped. If you flip a disaster that is the same as a previous disaster then everyone in the mine is dead and keep none of the gems they collected. This is repeated five times and at the end the player with the most gems wins.
My next game was RoboRally. This is another old favorite of mine that I don't get to play nearly as often as I'd like. Today we had three players, one of which had never played before. The guy running the game set up a four board, four flag map, but placed the second flag in a rather safe spot (figuring if there were new people it would be easier on them). I got lucky early on and was able to get the first flag and race ahead to the second. I kept in the lead for the rest of the game, and since it was a fairly spread out layout I didn't interact with the other two players much. I hit flag four as one guy was working on flag three and the other had just reached flag two.
Killed some time playing another game of Taluva.
Our last game for the con was called Masons. Probably the weakest of the games I played this weekend. You are "masons" building cities on an open board. Each turn you place a wall and roll dice to see what color towers and houses go around the wall. Whenever someone encloses an area a city is formed and everyone has a chance to score points. Point come from cards that allow you to either score on features in a city (like score 2 points for every black tower), or features outside the cities (like score 1 point for every house not in a city). There wasn't anything really wrong with the game (though I've since read it is possible to get into a situation where the end game conditions are not met but no one can actually play any new pieces), but it just did nothing for me. (and I'm not just saying that 'cause I came in second ;) )
After the game we said our goodbyes to folks, bought an éclair to go from Harold's and headed home.
