No, not the East - the Kingdom of Loathing!

If you've missed my previous mentions of it, KoL is a web based RPG full of strange humor and pop culture references. There are six classes, two for each of the three stats.
From the website:
Seal Clubber - Seal Clubbers hail from the frigid Northlands, because one character class always hails from the frigid Northlands. They rely on their Muscle to survive.
Turtle Tamer - The Turtle Tamer's mystical connection with his terrapin brethren imbues him with great power. He excels at moving very slowly and winning footraces with smug satisfaction. His Muscle is the key to his success, and to his long lifespan.
Pastamancer - With his mastery of the arcane secrets of Noodlecraft, the Pastamancer is a force to be reckoned with. He relies on his Mysticality to get ahead in the world.
Sauceror - Long engaged in an uneasy truce with the Pastamancers, the guild of Saucerors protects the secrets of the Ancient Brotherhood of Gravymakers. Their Mysticality is their most important attribute.
Disco Bandit - The Disco Bandit boogies to and fro, hither and yon. Whence comes he? No man knows. Whither strikes he next? All men live in fear of him and his Moxie.
Accordion Thief - The scourge of mariachis and polka bands, the Accordion Thieves have plied their malign craft since time out of mind. Their Moxie serves them well in both their adventures and their interactions with "the ladies."

You adventure around the Kingdom doing quests, collecting equipment, learning skills, growing familiars. As you advance in level, you can solve the "final" quest which will let your character ascend to a higher plane. From there you can come back as a different class - bringing your old stuff and familiars and one skill with you. There is enough going on to keep folks from getting bored :)

Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun with my character (creatively named Wolffauer). Right now he is a 22nd level Disco Bandit (on his second ascension), work to get to level 30 (for which there is a trophy). I've finished all the quests, so I could ascend at any time, but I'll be sticking around for a few weeks while I work on getting levels. I'm spending my game time farming for meat (in game money) so that I can buy some cool stuff - things like the Astral Badger that I just got yesterday. He now joins my growing collection of familiars.

Astral Badger
Come take a journey
To the center of your mind
Or just beat up foes.

(Yes, all the familiar descriptions are haikus)

Another thing I've been doing is hanging out in the various chat rooms. They /games chat is full of folks running various games, trivia or raffles for meat or game goodies. In /radio folks are talking about the internet radio station that some of the players run. I've been listening to the radio at work - very cool mix. Every day I come away with a small list of groups or songs that I need to track down.

While hanging out in radio chat the other day, I saw a message from someone that lead me to check out their profile. Turned out it was the bass player for The Kimberly Trip! I said hi and offered my complements on the band. Seems several members of the band play, though Sierra is the most active (and probably the one who got the others involved :) )

So that's what I've been up to. I'll probably post news from the Kingdom from time to time in a thinly veiled attempt to get some of you to play ;)

I'm not really interacting much with my clan but I liked the theme a lot :)
Hardcore is more difficult than I was expecting. I don't think I'll go to level 30 that way. Maybe for the next ascension :)

My other car is also made of meat.

Geoffjay is a DB on his 9th(?) ascension. I've done hardcore once, but I don't seem to have the patience for multiple such runs.

Congrats on the badger. MUSHROOM, MUSHROOM!

It's pretty inactive as far as clans go...

*Brag On* Torgster has ascended 45 times, including 6 Hardcore Oxygenarian and 7 hardcore (to get a complete set of Plexiglass gear, a complete set of Stainless Steel stuff, and a spare Stainless Steel Shilelegh for when he wants to 2-fist it!

I only have one level 30 trophy so far, but I have almost all the other trophies it is possible to get (still need to ascend a few more times for the 'all six basic skills' - I only have 3 of them.)

*Brag Off*

Yeah, I like the kingdom. And the clan I am a member of (The Loathers of Tomorrow) rocks!

Tiny plastic is one of the few I don't have. I have a couple rares, I think. When I start working on that one, it will be adventuring in the airship for a long time, collecting meat to buy them with and eggshells to try to find them. When I get close, I might ask to borrow any I am missing from clan mates. The tough ones were the Big Boat, the Million Meat in Hardcore, and the Gender Bender. Plus of course the level 30 trophy took a few weeks too.
