mikekn: (Tyree)

Yesterday I took three of the cats to the vet for their annual check-ups and shots. Mughi and Gunter go in together, and Tyree goes in on a separate trip.

Mughi is doing fairly well considering her age (estimated at 17 years old). She only weights 8 3/4 pounds, but she has not lost any more since she was last in, so at least her weight is stable. After the vet tech weighed her, she decided she'd had enough and proceeded to crawl up my chest onto my shoulders where she laid down behind my head. The next two people to stop by the room completely missed seeing her there, until the vet finally caught sight of her.

Her heart murmur sounds the same as it did last year. Every year we have them do the complete lab work on her, just to see if there are any problems or changes. They had a problem with one of the samples, so I need to take her back there to have it redrawn. Hopefully I'll be able to do that after work tonight.

Gunther is doing great. Apart from getting locked in the bathroom on Tuesday and scraping up her nose trying to get out, she has no problems. She's up to 12 pounds, and still hates going to the vet.

I brought Tyree in on his leash, since it is easier then getting him to a carrier. He isn't a fan of car rides and like to meow for most of the trip. Still he did wander around and look out the windows. He weighed in at a whopping 21 1/2 pounds (yes, that is more then the other two put together). While he doesn't look fat, the vet would like to see him closer to the 16 pounds he was last year. He has an ear infection right now, so I've been given a series of medicine to use on that. Boy does he love that :/ He'll go back in about 6 weeks to see how it is clearing up.

Grimalkin won't need to go in for her shots until May or June.

In other cat news, we are continuing our controlled interactions between Tyree and the girls. He stays in his room at night and when we are not home, but is out pretty much all the time when we are home. The girls all avoid him, but have been hiding less when he is out. They will wander around where he isn't, and even sometimes venture to where he is and be ok until they notice him. He reacts to how they act around him - if they hiss at him he goes away, if they run he chases. We try and prevent the chases from starting and have done a good job over all. Only one chase in the past two or three months. He is still on his meds and Gunther is still on hers, but that's it.

Over all I'm pleased with the progress and think we'll be able to keep moving forward.
