Day 11 & 12

That's right, this one not only goes up to 11 - it goes beyond!

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Amy and I will have to sit down and figure out what we want to do. Meanwhile, I'm going to just work on keeping the weeds away :)

As expected, they did not pick up the dumpster, so I got a few extra days. Sunday morning, we slept in (and over slept), then it was raining in the evening so nothing got done.

Monday I mostly worked on weeding the ivy - it really needed it. I made a mistake when we first planted the ivy, and didn't first kill off all the grass and stuff on the hill. Add that to my lax weeding in general, and the English ivy ends up sharing space with bunch of other stuff. I pulled out four kinds of trees (maple, oak, beech, red maple), three kinds of vines (Virginia creeper, grape, poison ivy) and lots of smaller weeds and grass. It's not a perfect job, but it's much better then it was, and nothing that is left will require the dumpster.

Tuesday I gave the ivy bed another pass, getting some areas I skimped on on Monday. Then I cleared more weeds, and branches. If I had more time, there are still three trees/bushes that I'd like to remove on the last side of the house. But they are small enough I should be able to cut them up and bag them for the normal trash pickup. The same goes for the pruning we still want to do.

To Do, Started, Finished:
1. Move the big brush pile (hereafter, The Pile) into the dumpster.
2. Move the little brush pile (by the oak tree) into the dumpster.
3. Remove the unwanted bushes in the front of the house.
4. Remove the unwanted bushes and weeds from the side and back of the house.
5. Trim out the dead branches from all the trees.
6. Weed the ivy bed.
7. Move the termite infested fire wood to the dumpster.
8. Remove more unwanted bushes, this time from the other side of the house.
9. Remove the lower branches on the evergreen trees.
10. Prune remaining bushes.

EDIT: When I got home today the dumpster had been collected, leaving only some gouges in my yard...
