Got into work late today because I had to finish this book before leaving the house. I'm sure I missed several of the literary references, but I still had a great time in Fforde's version of 1985 England. The Richard III bit was great (audience participation a la Rocky Horror) as were so many of the unique touches that made up the world. The story (sort of a mystery/adventure thing) was very engaging, an easy and entirely enjoyable read (reminded me of Pratchett in that sense). Definitely looking forward to getting the other books in this series, and wondering if any fannish groups have tried the Richard III thing...
