Catching up
Time to catch up on stuff that's been happening.
Last Tuesday was a World of Warcraft gaming session. A bunch of us went into the Black Fathoms Deep instance dungeon. We had four quests to work on, but no one was able to finish all of them (ran out of things to kill). At this point I think most people have gone back and finished up the ones they fell short of, but I still need to. Still it was a lot of fun, so I hope we're able to do more in the future.
Wednesday we were down in Media for the brewers guild meeting. For once we weren't at a brewpub but rather a restaurant/bar that showcases various microbreweries. They had a great selection, but the favorite of the night was a beer called Dragon's Milk from the New Holland Brewing Company. The name of the brew is from Elizabethan England, but the recipe is not. Still it was very yummy.
On Thursday Amy and I went out to Red Lobster with my mom. Stayed there talking for several hours, then came home and watched a little TV - caught up on Veronica Mars and Lost, leaving only Battlestar Galactica (which Amy has no interest in) and Alias (where we still need to finish the previous season first).
Friday night was SCA dance practice and a friend of ours was going to be given her AoA, so we both made sure to attend. The crowd was great! Over 50 people for a dance practice - mind you about half of them didn't dance, but they were usually there with someone who was dancing. Our friend was completely surprised - which was very cool :)
Saturday I intended to get work done around the house. I worked some on taxes, finishing only the local ones (still missing info for federal and state). I cleaned bottles and re-bottle 4 different meads for the War of the Worts contest. Amy also entered her mead, and our friend Joe gave us a few beers, including one for a historical recipe, to enter as well. We drove up to the homebrew store to drop off the entries, but when we got there we realized we left the forms behind. We ended up filling out new forms, so at least that is finished. I only have high hopes for one of my entries (the Riesling Pyment), but I'm looking forward to the feedback on the others.
After dropping off the brews, we went over to our friends Mike and Joy's house to drop off christmas and birthday gifts (only a little late...) Joy was out with their daughter; Mike was sick so he had stayed, so we got to chat with him for a while. After we left we went looking for dinner. Our first choice was the Iron Hill Brewery, but they had a two hour (!) wait. Most of the other places we drove by also had long waits or long lines, so we ended up at the Montgomeryville mall at a cheesesteak place. Did a little shopping, then came home.
Sunday morning we went to see Lemony Snicket, which I enjoyed. It had a great look to it, and was just weird enough for me. One of the previews we saw was for Tim Burton & Johnny Depp's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - looks very cool and twisted. After the movie Amy took off to meet her family at her brother's house, while I went on to brunch at Kildare's with a nice group of folks. After brunch
sansobel and I joined Amy (they were having a Creative Memories, scrapbooking thing). Hung out there for a few hours then came home to crash.
Monday evening was fencing practice. The heavy fighters canceled their practice, so we had the site to ourselves.
beckishadow seemed determined to bleed each other to death as we gave cut after cut before one of us would finally succumb (or get stabbed). It was very silly.
I can't recall if it was Sunday or Monday when we watched more season 3 Alias. But we finished up one DVD and as I went to put it away I noticed that the next one had the same picture. Turns out our 6 disk set has two copies of disk 4 and none of disk 5 :( I called the support number and they'll be sending an envelope for me to send the extra disk 4 back and then they'll send disk 5. I'm glad they'll do that with no hassles, but it's probably going to be a few weeks before we get disk 5. We may have to rent it just to keep going.
Last night we played our every other week D&D game. We were facing a vampire and were complete unprepared for him. Thanks to a few bits of luck and an incredibly sympathetic DM we survived the encounter.
Today I've got a few things to work on: Order comics, Update the shire calendar, and work on taxes. Once those are all done I'll be playing Warcraft :)
Thursday will be EK History night again. I have a few special requests to work on and then back to inventory. Friday is gaming, Saturday is open (but has a few options), and Sunday is a birthday party for some friend's kids. I've got off Monday, and fencing that night has already been canceled, so I've got another full day with nothing planned... spooky.
