So, I'm driving through a tiny village in upstate New York, late on Friday night.  We're running about two hours behind schedule and have been driving for most of the evening.  Suddenly there is a cop behind me with his lights on - damn.  I pull over, turn off the engine and roll down the window.  The cop comes over and briefly explains that he was going to give me a ticket, but after getting a closer look at my license plate, realized that he couldn't, and that we were free to go.

Actually, based on a lack of evidence to the contrary I assumed it had been working all along :) Mind you, I never thought I'd get to actually witness it working, and definitely not that clearly.
