No surprises
So as I'm learning about LJ, I keep running into folks I know from one place or another. I've started adding them to my friends list, which hopefully won't freak anyone out. I expect reactions from "Who the hell are you?" to "How long have you been reading this?" Hopefully they can answer the first one on their own. The answer to the second one is: only a day or two (with one exception, but they know who they are).
Looks like it will be another quiet day at work... Tuesday was the only day this week were anyone else was in the office - and they were in a meeting with customers all day. I visited one customer on Wednesday, but that visit only took 15 minutes so I've been sitting by myself most of the week.
I'm a consultant, so work comes and goes. Right now a few projects have ended, a few are starting to start to think about starting up, and the projects that are active need hardware that is currently getting repaired and won't be back for about 15 more business days. I've already decided that there is no point in coming to work the next two weeks, so I'm going to stay home and try and get stuff done.
"Try and get stuff done"... hmm ... that seems to be a common theme for me. Today, if I'm lucky I'll get some stuff done, if not I'll spend the day surfing the web, reading email and playing NetHack (where, if I'm lucky, I'll beat my pitiful high score of 62053).

Whoo Nethack! I need to get me in some of that now that there's a shiny new bugfix version out.

Yup that was me - changed how I was doing things, so I switched to this account and got rid of the first one.

I plan to return next year, maybe for the whole weekend this time.
Meanwhile - Next con is Balticon (Bujold!!) Going to miss a local SCA event to get there, but it should be worth it.
Hi there
I see this as semi-public stuff anyway, but folks have generally been asking if it's ok to "friend" me. Mostly ones who know me only from my website. I don't think you'll freak anyone, though. And it's how I found you here, after all!
Hi! How's the Cats? And your lady? Arpad and Julia visited here three days ago.
Re: Hi there
The only ones who might freak out are some of the shire's teenagers :) I've been friending folks to keep track of them, and then commenting on something to let them know I'm there.
Amy and the cats (all three) are doing great. I'll try and put up some pictures at some point. Life in the shire continues along :)
Sounds like the twins are doing good. Amy's going to love the pics you have up. Every time we're at an event up your way we always look for you, but our paths haven't crossed yet. We're planning on daytripping 12th Night and then going up to Birka later in the month.
Take care,
Michel
Re: Hi there
I love it when people friend me randomly.
And someday, I will have to get that book back to you.

The real question is how did you post from the future?

BACK . . . TO THE FUTURE!
