Cat update
It has been a while since the last update, but all the news is good. The gate came down maybe 6+ weeks ago. Tyr promptly explored everywhere settling into a few different hiding spots in the living room and dining room. Eir did some exploring as well, but only when I wasn't around. By the time I went to Origins, he was regularly wandering about. During the week I was gone, Kim and Derek took care of them. They got to play with Tyr some, but didn't spot Eir the entire time. After I got home we made a detailed search of the house with no luck. Then later that evening as I was typing stuff up in the dinning room, I spotted her heading upstairs from the family room.
Eventually I tracked down Eir's main hiding spot - behind a laundry basket filled with fabric and sitting in the corner. I didn't realize there was space back there, but she found it with no problem. Currently it is the only place I see her. Once or twice I spotted her running back into the spot, but never hanging around outside of there.
Tyr is interacting with the girls more and more, and getting closer to me, but keeping out of touching range. I figure a few more months and I'll be able to pet him a little :)
This past weekend, I moved the cat cam downstairs and was able to catch Eir and Tyr playing on the cat tree - I was very happy to see that, since it meant Eir was just hiding from me, and not everything else.
Play time on the cat tree - I missed the shot of Eir reaching down to swat into the box, but it looked like they were having fun :)

Breakfast time - Tyr is now eating with the girls. I put food for Eir down outside her hiding spot.

A rare sharing time of the girls - usually Gunther will kick Grimalkin out of the bed when she wants to use it.

How's Grimalkin doing with the shots?

When she was last at the vet we were looking at increasing her dosage, but I wanted to finish the move to canned food only first, so we waiting. I picked up a cheap blood glucose monitor and was testing her at home on Memorial Day and her number all came out normal. So I've taken her off the insulin for now and just keeping an eye on her behavior (plus the occasional blood test). So far so good :)

We are awaiting urine tests for glucose/ketones on one of our girls. I doubt she's diabetic since her blood level was ~180 and she's improved on antibiotics.
However the vet has had experiences where a blood levels wasn't so bad but the urine tested high for glucose and ketones. So we shall see.
