SCA questions

SCA questions:
1. How and when did first find out about the SCA?
I first found out about the SCA in 1988/89 when I was at Drexel. It was probably my friendthomasm who first told me about it.
2. What made you wanna come play?
I'd been doing the season pass thing at the PA renfair for a few years, so I was interested in the time period. They had fencing practice on Penn's campus and I really wanted to try that. (Still trying to figure out who the other fencing marshal/teacher was - one was Dylan and the other was a tall red headed guy with long hair - I keep wanted to say his name was Brin or something like that but I can't confirm it)
3. Did you ever take sewing/cooking/archery/(other things that are found within the SCA) classes in school?
Yes, I took three fencing classes for my Drexel gym requirement.
4. Why do you play now?
The SCA contains many activities that I enjoy and provides me with lots of opportunities to learn new stuff and share things I've learned with others.
5. Do you make your own garb?
Nope. In theory I know how to sew, but I not tried making anything for myself.
6. Do you fight (heavy/rapier)?
In theory :) I haven't been to a practice in a long time and I haven't ever tried to authorize, but I still consider myself a fencer.
7. Have you ever bartered with anyone?
Nope. (Will brew for clothes!)
8. What was your first event?
Ugh. Either some sort of schola event at Beaver college or a crown tourney in (I think) New Jersey. I'll have to dig up the Pikestaff issues from that time period and figure it out some day.
9. Describe your first garb.
A white shirt and black wrap pants from The Purple Unicorn. I still have them and I still use them at Pennsic :)
10. Do any of the friends you had before the SCA now play also?
Sort of. I met and knewsingewulf and beckishadow before they started playing in the SCA, but I was already involved in it.
11. What were some of your favorite books/stories as a kid?
I don't really have favorites - I was reading a ton of books then. Lots of fantasy and science fiction. I was a big fan of the Hitchhiker's Guide, so maybe that one.
12. Have you registered a name?
Yes. Michel Wolffauer (16th century German)
13. Have you registered Arms?
Yes. (see user icon)
14. What is you favorite "No Sh*t, there I was" story?
Nothing springs to mind right now...
15. What A&S stuff are/could you be interested in?
Games and brewing mostly. I've not branched out much beyond them yet. Given my free time these days, I'm probably not going to be trying anything new for a while.
