Just as I'm trying to figure out how to balance my budget on a variable income, along comes an eBay auction for a Medieval Madness machine currently in Lancaster, PA (!) and one for an Emperor Norton note (the bonds he sold for 50 cents back in 1875). Just evil I say.

Yeah seriously!

I can't afford the pinball machine. It is already over $3500 and they still haven't met the reserve price.

The Note is in a live auction, so I've gone and left an absentee bid on it. It would be a very cool thing to have in my Emperor Norton collection :)

I think its a fair trade to give up on the pinball machine and try for the less expensive option-- definitely shows good budgeting skills :-)
