6. L'Amber - Tanith Lee [742/1632]
Once a again Tanith Lee creates an almost lyrical story and reminds me why I want to read everything she's ever written.

5. Skinny Dip - Carl Hiaasen [741/1630]
This author was recommend to me by someone waiting in line at a Christopher Moore signing. It is straight fiction (no SF or fantasy at all), specifically a humorous vengeance novel. Well written and very enjoyable - though I'll put off picking up any more of his books until I get the urge to read another one (as opposed to all the other authors I follow - those I buy and hold until I'm ready to read).

4. Red Lightning - John Varley [742/1630]
Normally this would have been a pretty quick read, but I haven't had as much time for reading as I'd like. While it was an enjoyable book, I can't say it was a fun read because it deals with a lot of tragedy (on the millions dead scale).

3. Balance of Trade - Sharon Lee & Steve Miller [743/1630]

"Balance of Trade" is (as far as I can tell) a stand alone novel set in the Liaden Universe. An enjoyable read that I wish had been longer.

2. MirrorMask - Neil Gaiman [743/1629]
Killed a little time yesterday reading the illustrated novella based on the movie. It retells the story from MirrorMask, but all from the first person perspective of Helena. A nice way to spend a half hour or so.

1. Bad Monkeys - Matt Ruff ([livejournal.com profile] matt_ruff) [744/1629]

An excellent book, which comes as no surprise to me, filled with Bad Monkeys, Catering, Eyes Only and Scary Clowns. The only bad part is that now I don't have any more of his books to read, and I don't know when his next one will be coming.
