Miscellaneous updates

Yep, that time again...

Tyree has settled into the house, but we're still working on getting him settled with the other cats. He's just aggressive enough that we've had to slow things down to keep everyone safe. I've no problems with hissing and growling, but when the others back down or take off Tyree likes to give chase, so we need to work past that before letting them interact more. For now he stays in his room most of the day. When I get home, I pen up the girls and let him wander for a few hours. What I could really use is a way for them to see and hear each other, without being able to physically touch. Something like a full door sized, cat-proof, baby gate.

Went to an archery event last weekend. The weather wasn't the greatest for shooting, but it was much better then we thought it would be. I was mostly there to catch up with a few people, but I was able to get some archery in as well, even did a little marshal-in-training stuff. Saw two friends who were up from Baltimore for the event, which was cool.

Still playing a good deal of WoW. My character is currently up to level 42, learned tribal leatherworking and has gotten his mount (riding cat available at level 40, but costs a lot of gold, so he couldn't afford it for a few levels). Had a good time finishing up some quests with the help of my guild mates. Probably will only really get to play one night this coming week - better make it count :)

Saw Hitchhiker's Guide on Saturday morning with [livejournal.com profile] violet_amy, [livejournal.com profile] snugglyevil, [livejournal.com profile] alphaggek and his wife. Loved it. Not going to review or debate about it. :)

From the movie we headed home for game day. It was a small group of about 5 people, but we got to play two games of Carcassonne, one of Fluxx and then a game of Munchkin Bites that ran until 2 AM. By the end of the last one, folks were pretty wiped out, but everyone had a good time - and I must play more Carcassonne soon. (Hear that [livejournal.com profile] mare_in_flames?)

Sunday we joined [livejournal.com profile] beckishadow to help out with an SCA demo. We've been lending a hand here and there to a group of home schoolers who were covering the medieval period and had been invited to help out at a feast and festival they were having before moving on to their next topic. They did a great job, to the point where I wished we had some living history folks with us (love the SCA, but I am also aware of what it does well and what it does not). I can talk about period games til the cows come home (and just what are the cows out doing I wonder...), but my knowledge in other areas is limited to what the SCA does, not what may have been actually done.

Did lot's of other stuff over the past few weeks, but much of it is slipping my mind...

Tonight - last regular fencing practice of the summer :(

In which case a screen door might be just what you need. You wouldn't even have to put hinges on it, necessarily; just a couple of hooks and eyes on each side to hold it in place, as long as you're willing to do the hooky-unhooky thing every time you go through that doorway...
