I'm not surprised. They proved to be a bit of a tug of war between officers, actually: everyone wanted to wind up with them, simply because they're such an oddly entertaining view on the way things work.
but then too many people watched too much poker on TV and now we've been doing no limit Texas Hold'em.
*Sigh*. Some people are really into Texas Hold'em -- herooftheage called it frequently -- but I find it horribly dull after a few hands. Our table varied nicely, from him doing a lot of that and five card stud, to baron_elric calling lots of Anaconda. (Indeed, a rule of the table was No Anaconda Before 9pm, just to limit its frequency.)
In general, we tended towards moderately complex games with few or no wildcards: lots of Chicago, Follow the Queens, Choose Your Own, Shove the Junk. We had a few traditional stupid games: we'd call Vice President once in the while for perversity's sake, and typically once an evening play Mexican Sweat just to be pointless.
I've got all these games from the Cheapass/Phil Foglio crowd that I want to try
Scary sounding. We tried a few Cheapass games -- hungrytiger would occasionally introduce one -- but haven't done many of them...
