Meat and Mead is the traditional pairing I think. Interesting that the beverage goes second on this one.

That may be it. Some googling around finds quite a few hits on Meat and Mead.
As for Whiskey and Cigars - does it count if it isn't a food?

Sure - the question is 'what is the accompaniment for the beverage', right? chocolate goes nicely with whiskey, but a cigar is better. I smoke about 1 cigar a year - at the whiskey and cigar party at ICOD.
Whiskey with a CIGAR?!
